Lucky Paul is an Improvisational Beatmaker / Percussionist.  Deeply immersed in technology and nature, he is customizing approaches for making music as spontaneous and interactive as possible.

He has been an international touring and recording drummer/percussionist with artists such as Feist, Jamie Lidell, Moses Sumney, Lianne La Havas, Aqualung, Beth Orton, Rodrigo Amarante, Mocky and Chilly Gonzales.  He has also studied traditional music while living in Brazil, India and Korea.  The last 10 years he has been based in Los Angeles.

 

Now with Covid putting a stop to touring, Lucky Paul is back in his home country of New Zealand for now.  He is living on a remote, off grid Island (Aotea, Great Barrier Island), powering his gear by the sun, drinking water from the sky and living off the land as much as possible.  Thankfully a cell phone tower was built close by recently, which allows for frequent livestreams.
